Dear Sir or Madam:

RE: Bulela Kabujimini Orphanage Project

AF-Bulela Kabujimini Foundation (BKF) is pleased to submit this request for your review. We look forward to your partnership in our cooperative efforts to build the Bulela Kabujimini Orphanage in Kinshasa the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Our proposal requests $230, 000 to launch an orphanage to enable disadvantaged orphaned, displaced and abandoned children in an area devastated by war, HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty the opportunity to improve their quality of life and chances for survival by providing them with the basic social services of food, shelter, education, security and spiritual development.

History
BKF was founded by yours truly, Godefroid Kay. I was born in Congo and trained as a missionary there with the Nobertin Father. But, I have lived in the United States for over 20 years. I believe that it is the duty of all mankind to look out for his fellow man. God loves and cares for us unconditionally; regardless of station in life; regardless of whom we are. And as such, I have dedicated my life to helping those who cannot fend for themselves.

While here in Los Angeles, I served as a missionary of Charity of Mother Theresa working in "Skid Row" with the homeless. I am President of the Daniel Murphy Conference in my Parish. Additionally, as a member of St. Vincent de Paul, I share their commitment to helping those in need of food, shelter, clothing and other necessities.

Throughout the years I have been volunteering in various areas and various roles.

· In 1989, I was given an award of merit by Los Angeles county for my volunteer service in the LA County Psychiatric hospital

· In 1990, I completed a hospice volunteer training program at Kaiser Permanente hospital. My responsibilities including caring for the terminally ill and providing support for their families. This was in an effort to ensure that the remaining time left for the patients was both comfortable and meaningful.

· For the past three years, I have been providing detention ministry at the Federal Detention Center in San Pedro, CA

· Currently I am pursuing a Clinical Pastoral program at UCLA that trains chaplains to counsel the terminally ill and their families.

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in.
